I am running XP home on a computer having a 2.1Gb Processor with an 80Gb
hard drive and 512 Meg of RAM.
Is it normal for some applications ie Money data files to take from 6 to 15
seconds to load and open the first time accessed in a session?
Opeming the same app thereafter is accomplished in aoubt a second until
other things are opened and closed -- it then reverts to the longer duration
until closed and reopened.
Thanks for any
info---Frank

Yes- applications are loaded from the hard drive into RAM as you use them.
When you start a new program it is loaded and windows releases RAM by
storing information in the swap file on your hard drive. If you add more ram
you will get better performance.RAM is much faster than your drive.
