Apple, Viewer, "translate" disk from PC 2002 version

Does anybody know about making a disk to be used for
an Apple?
I've made a disk that is used by my students. It's got about 20 main
PPT shows, with lots of MP3 audio, links to spreadsheets, the web,
other PPT files. Autostart. I use PPT Viewer (2003), because not everybody
has PPT on their computers and the files are
written in PPT 2002.
Now somebody asks if they can use it on an Apple. I wouldn't think so,
but can I transfer, translate, or re-do it so that it can be used on an Apple.
I don't have an Apple but might figure out how to get one with a CD burner
and start my Apple knowledge from the beginning.

Thaks for any help and Merry Christmas.

Petty nit that I'll pick only to avoid confusion: Apple is the company name;
the company stopped making computers named "Apple" quite a long time ago.
Lately they make Macintoshes. If the students use a fairly recent model Mac,
here's what you can expect:

- They will be able to read the data from your PC-formatted CD (though it's best
to stick to whatsitsname, ISO9600? Short filenames, no spaces, no punctuation
but dashes and underscores, give the files a .PPT or .PPS or whatever extension
is appropriate).

- They'll need PowerPoint or the free Viewer (equivalent to the PowerPoint 97
viewer) to view any presentations

- They may have to manually start PPT/Viewer then open your file from the CD to
start the presentation. I'd supply instructions to do this if the show doesn't
start automatically when they doubleclick its icon on the CD

- Links to Excel and other apps won't work unless the apps are present on the
Mac, of course.

- Links may break anyhow unless they're pathless; paths on the Mac are
different from the PC (colons instead of backslashes as path separators, drives
are named rather than given letters, etc)

- Links to the web should work

- Autostart won't work. There may be a way to make it work if you burn the CD
from a Mac.

A complex presentation with lots of links can be quite a chore to convert.
Even if you don't buy a Mac, you'll want to have access to one.

Thanks, sounds just slightly easier than I thought it would be!
I'm assuming that there's no way around the 97 viewer
There's a good bit of animation, including triggers in the shows.

I don't think there's a newer viewer for the Mac, Pete, but I'm not sure.

At any rate, I was just going to suggest that you ask the student which
version of PPT he uses on his Mac. If he has the most recent, the Viewer may
not be an issue.

You are right, Echo, there isn't a newer version of the Viewer for the Mac.
It should also be kept in mind that if the student is running Mac OS/X, the
older Mac Viewer won't work there either.

if we live without making a difference, it makes no difference that we lived

If it needs to work on Mac, that'll have to go. :-(

Motion paths and (not sure about this) triggers are supported on the latest PPT Mac
version but not in the free viewer.
