Is there software that runs on the Apple iMac which will communicate
with windows messenger? What?

Hi Graham
There is a version of MSN Messenger for OSX which would let you communicate
with people on the public .net messenger service. Being MSN messenger though
I don't believe you'd be able to use it with private exchange or sip servers
though.
