Been having this problem for a while now. I'll be on my computer for a
while with no problems. Then, IE and OE won't connect to the internet and
gives every appearence of not having a connection. But, I'll be playing an
online game and will have no problems with it at all, and can play that game
for hours on end after the problem starts.
I was using a RAID drive, and found something called "Unknown Trojan". I
did a little research into this trojan and found it would act in this very
way. Yet, the RAID drive wasn't working (from bad S-ATA adaptor), so I
hooked up my old drive, and it is also doing the EXACT same thing. So, now
I'm really confused. Maybe it's a hardware issue, just seems odd that it
would only effect IE and OE without effecting any other software that needs
a connection.
I'm running Windows XP, updated fully. I have an Asus P4C800-E mobo, using
a Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (never could get on board adapter
to work).
If it weren't for playing online games, I would have just assumed I lost my
connection. And, I don't play the game now that I did when the problem
started. When it first started I was playing Star Wars Galaxies. I've
since deleted that from my system and am now playing WoW and Eve Online.
Thanks for any help you can give,
Craig
