I have a bunch of programs that are closing on me. Creative player for music, outlook express(won't open at all) incredinail won't open acct tools to allow me to preply and send oyut, and when I first boot up Cthelper has the same message that all the above have. " x (name of any of the above programs) has encountered a problem and has to close"
I've scanned for virus, did spy bot and ad aware, and tried MS's service pack ,, all to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

Have a look in the startup list -

START / run "msconfig" / STARTUP

untick cthelper and anything else not needed always running
(you can remove just about everything here (leave systray and AV), can
always put it back later, this doesn't delete anything, just stops
auto-start.)

is it a legal copy? I know alot of people w/ bootleg copies of xp pro /
home and after awhile programs would get error either the exe file or a dll
and when the got the legit they never had probs...

Examples:
1.open help and support but when they click on something in the support menu
it crashes

2.opening movies will get errors

there's too many to list .....there might be a logical explaination for your
problem but this is my experience

Tried deleting stuff there. Am I supposed to reboot and those errors will go away?lol that would be too easy. Brad it is a legal cd. But the guy that put it together is a retail dealer , but not a big name, and he is not being supportive, he doesn't know what to do. We did a reinstall earlier due to other problems, but he wouldn't give me a new cd. There is nothing showing there is anything wrong with any hardware or connections, virus, software etc. it is strickly a software problem. I tried doing an install repair booting from the cd, but realized I was in over my head. (I would need exact instructions before proceeding there.) My guess is with all this ad aware stuff, I must have deleted files some application I needed. But strangely all the online MS looking into my PC yielded nothing that fixes the problem.
