Anyway to view actual conversation with server?

Outlook 2000. Anyone know if there's a way (natively or with any 3rd
party product) to view a log of the exact conversation between Outlook
and the mail server? I want to see where there is a problem occuring.

Occasional problems between Outlook and my email server.
I want to know exactly at what point it is having issues.

No always does Outlook get an error and report the part that was
problematic, that's why I want to log it.

I could always install a packet sniffer, but I was just wondering if
Outlook had any native heavy-logging.

Silly for even thinking it might, eh?

Outlook 2003 does but not 2000. What error messages are you getting?

It depends on the way you access the server. Outlook does not log RPC
connections to an Exchange server, but for all Internet account types check
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479 (Outlook
2002 & 2003) or
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q240347 (Outlook
2000).
