Hi,

'Datamind' is based in Ringwood, Hampshire, UK and I'd be interested to hear
from anyone who has used them and what their experiences were. I'm
particularly interested in the customer support side of this company.

The reason I'm asking is, I'm in the market for a film scanner and I'm very
tempted to use them as they seem to be very competitive.

Thanks.

I've not used them.

What I have done in the past is to find a good price, verify the item is
in stock, then go to Jessop's who have a "match the price" promise.
That way I have a local shop to go back to if there are any problems
and the item in question has not been "lovingly handled" by whatever
shipment company was used.

Ian

Hi there.

The comments about Jessop price matching are sound, but there have been a
few postings about New Equipment from Jessops not being quite as New as it
should be. Having said that, I have never had any problems with them.

Have you had a look at Dabs.com, that is where I bought my Minolta 5400 and
my Nikon D70. Both were at really good prices, and the service was
excellent, but of course, someone else will know different.

Nowadays there is always a risk, when buying anything from anywhere.

The Dabs product is quite expensive. Thanks for the "New" advice though.

For the record, I'm looking for a Multi Pro.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that about Jessops. Incidentally, on the news
this
morning they were talking about poor results for Jessops, a 20% fall in
profits due to on-line competition, reductions in consumer spending and the
dramatic fall in price of "acceptable" quality digital cameras etc.

I have used Dabs myself and have had no problems. I have heard that they
can be very difficult about returning faulty goods if they are not
completely
broken.

Ian
