Somehow either Leythos's YOUNGEST son got two years younger in the time
between these two posts, or this is a clear demonstration that there is
nothing that he wouldn't be willing to lie about!

It's early, he's 14 and my oldest is 17, my daughter is 12. It was a
mistake, sorry. Story stands.

I've never asked you to belive me. If you really are that concerned,
follow along and you will see that it's true. I made a mistake,
something I'm sure you've done, but I'm not slamming you for it.

Heck, I even get their birth dates mixed up sometimes.

Now, since you have no experience with FC3, and you keep how can you
insist I'm wrong?

Seems to me you want to make an issue out of my screwing up my two kids
ages with each other and your inability to admit that something you have
no experience with might just be like many people say it is. Come back
after you get first hand experience with FC3 not being ready for users.
 
Hell! I used to get the dog mixed up with the kids. Couldn't figure out why
the dog was always coming to me with the kids right behind laughing.

I think that Kurt's real concern is his bruised ego. :-) He's been
challenged by the fact that indeed a kid could get Linux running on a
computer while he's unable to do so. His ego is so big, he just can't
accept the fact that what you've said is at all possible, due to his own
inadequacies. He sure is some case that guy. Looks like the closest he'll
ever come to running Linux is running his website on that OS. But then
again, that's because someone else got it all setup for him and all he had
to do was learn how to FTP his files over to the server. Or maybe he didn't
even have to do that, as his host has placed frontpage extensions on his
site.

Anyone who blasts away here (day after day) and on his mickeymousescum
website against Microsoft, but still insists on using their products, "can
never be trusted!".

You just made me realize something that I should have seen a long time
ago - spending any time in a thread with Alias or Kurt is counter-
productive to why I participate in these groups.

I come here to learn and to help others when I can, and getting caught
up in one of their BS tracks does neither for me. Thanks for bringing me
back to where I need to be.

Linux won't run on MY computer. I never said that I haven't got it
running on any other computer.

For $1.99 a month, it is cheaper than having to host the website myself.

LOL! I don't just blast away. I am open-minded enough to acknowledge
both the good and the bad of Microsoft and its products. You just
lumped it all together and say that they are all totally without any
merit at all. The person that can't be trusted is you and you're
totally closed-minded opinions about everything Microsoft!

bike, if he had bought XP. I won't get into the additional cost of
purchasing M$ Word, which he didn't need to do with FC3 to get his homework
done. So it wasn't at all the "same".

No, the point I was trying to make was that the test was valid in that I
would have provided him the Windows XP Prof CD or the Linux CD's myself
- since we have a volume license for our site and developers licenses
for everyone, the price is not the issue.

To me, the ability to install and start using is the main issue. Cost of
not an issue, since you can also purchase a retail version of RH Linux
and paid version of Star Office (instead of OO), and the others.

What I consider is the ability to set it up on a reasonable machine (P4)
and have the operating system and office type apps running on the
workstation with internet access. In several test cases, using non-
technical people, I found that Fedora Core 3 was installed painlessly,
worked and that they had little trouble learning the different interface
in a short amount of time - if they had no windows experience it would
have been quicker for them.

I managed to break my linux installation today simply by changing
screenmodes, and I`ve never been able to get sound working under Linux. I
own a ATI Radeon 9700 and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2Zs, not exactly exotic
hardware is it?
