Anyone know if CryptEdit, wordpad replacement, can handle footers?

I looked and looked yesterday but didn't see anything in the pulldowns
that I could recognize.

Does CryptEdit have this feature?

If not, does anyone know of a wordpad replacement that does? The
program should also support links, pls, as CryptEdit does.

Thanks so much! :oD

Actually, it just occurred to me that a text editor that shows page
numbers as I've seen later versions of Notepad do (I think in Win2K
and up??) is all I really need.

I have tons of text files containing data for research all over the
place. I also save a lot of data, too. I have a way of cataloguing
snippets using a database solution I've developing for some time now.
But one of my binders is getting pretty crammed with paper. I've come
up with the solution of combining text from multiple sources onto one
page and then printing 4 sheets to a page and double-sided.

The only trouble is that I need page numbers otherwise I can't tell
during printout if I've printed correctly. I have a deskjet and use a
special program for this so it's quite manual and I can't just do all
that with a press of a button. But having page numbering would solve
problem.

I used Word yesterday to do this but that was a pain <g>. I'm not
fond of Word at all but used it in this case as my WP is a resource
hog and can't run it with all the other stuff I had going at that time
yesterday <g>.

If I have a secondary text editor just for this purpose I could build
it into the context menu associating it to the text files and use it
whenever I need page numbers to be printed. If it just automatically
added page numbers as I've seen later Notepads do, that would be
great.

Anyway, any comments appreciated once more. Thanks! :oD

I don't think it does.
For a very fast, very easy replacement that supports footers, headers,
I recommend Jarte. Some people don't like the look of it, but the
function icons can be turned off (I like them).

Using wordpad and the .LOG function may be handy somehow in your
case, or if you want the .LOG function to go at the top of the
page, then use EditHLA which is super small and has auto save .
This may speed up the process?
Hope I am not completely OT.

Oh, I don't use Wordpad though. I like it but find that since it
doesn't support links, found an alternative in CryptEdit. But it
doesn't seem to show page numbering either (at least, doesn't allow
footers so I'm assuming it doesn't label pages).

I'll keep looking. I find Metapad most adequate for my needs as it
also supports links, but I'd use a secondary text editor that does
page numbering when I need to do large print jobs and will print 4
pages per sheet.

Thanks.

I have been using Cryptedit for some time and found it very good as it
has many more features than WordPad.

IIRC, it has facility for entering Headers and Footnotes. Look in the
Print Preview/Settings.

Sorry I am not very sure as it is no longer installed in my current
machine as I am just recalling from memory.

Good memory :)
