this is the msg I get every time I try to send an email. The host 'SMTP'
could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name
correctly.
Subject '$450 I need a room Asap (anywhere by schaumburg)', Account:
'work', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

You do not have the correct address of the SMTP server, could be
smtp.someplace.net for instance.
Report back with the name of your ISP (email) provider and someone may be
able to help. Otherwise contact your ISP for instructions.

Does NO-BODY do any searching in this group AT ALL?
I replied to a similar post not 40 minutes ago.......

Your smtp server is NOT called "smtp". Why you put that value in your email
settings I don't know.
Go to your email provider's web site and find out the correct email
settings.

BTW, I presume you don't work for Microsoft, so change your email address.

this is what I get...The connection to the server has failed. Subject
'pictures', Account: 'pop3', Server: 'comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

That's not correct. Windows does support Hotmail.
Specifically, to set up a Hotmail account in Windows Mail, follow
the settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Windows Mail's new account wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail
and MSN addresses. So, when you enter your email address initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is
complete, go back and correct your email address.
