Any WinXP Explorer Performance Tweaks?

My system setup...

WinXP, SP2,
3 GHz CPU, 1 GB memory
150 Gb SATA HD

My working folder has 120 sub directories with -typically 100,000 +++
files within them ((jpgs,mp3, rars, zips)

it literally takes 2 minutes to open

anyone know of tweaks to speed up? setting changes???

Yeah.

Delete some directories and files.

This HD *-is-* for Organizing and subsequently burning DVDs

obtw... anyone have any experience of performance of NTFS vs. FAT32??
for lottsa big files???

Apart from disable thumbnails? Not really.

One option might be to re-organise your files, and perhaps try to trim
some of that data.

If you can't do that, another option might be to look around for a
replacement file manager - something a little more low-level and
optimised than Explorer.

This looks promising: http://www.explorerxp.com/ although I've never
tried it.
