If I want to create a new style, is there any way to copy a style? I know I
can make 1 style based on another, but what about duplicating it to do a new
style?

Related question: when I go to edit a Numbered or Bullet list style, it
shows me 8 Numbered options, 8 Outline Numbered options, etc. Does this mean
I'm limited to 8 of each of those options per document? It seems like if I
change one, other Styles based on that Numbered option also change. Am I
just doing this wrong?

Thanks,
Colin

Hi Colin

As far as I know, there's no way to copy styles. The best I can think of is
to create a new document, then use the Organizer at Tools > Templates and
Add-ins to copy your style to the new, blank document. Re-name it, and then
copy back again.

List Styles were introduced in Word 2002, but Microsoft hasn't documented
how they're supposed to work, or what relationships they have with paragraph
styles. I still use paragraph styles with numbering, as described at

document

and

Hope this helps.
