Any suggestions please

A strange problem - using Outlook98, running under Win98SE with a Broadband
LAN internet connection when sending an email it s returned with a message
"no transport available". When that email account is exported from Outlook
98 and inported into Outlook Express 5.5, using the same Broadband LAN
internat connection the email is sent OK.

Any advice as to what the problem is would be appreciated

Are you authenticating to the outgoing server?
 
Hi,

Not sure but just try to help based on my memory.

No transport available, if I remember correctly, seems to be associated with
no default email account has been set up.

Make sure you have set up the e-mail account correctly and has set up a
"default" account and/or Profile to use for mails.

Surely if no default email account has ben set up this would be applicable
to both Outlook98 and Outlook express

Sending from Outlook Express with the email account settings imported from
Outlook 98 there is no problem

- which comes back to the question as what could be different as the email
account settings and internat connection settings are identical
