Any shortcut to prevent macro running when opening file?

Hi,

I'm using XL2002 on Windows 2000 at work. I made a boo boo when saving
a file with a macro. I couldn't open the file after that. I saw a
macro error just as I was saving the file, but it was too late to
stop. If I opened the file again, it wouldn't open and XL would stop
respoding. I emailed the file home where, using XL2000 I was able to
open the file by not allowing macros to run, and then fixing the macro
problem. My work XL2002 was set up not to display the macro warning,
so I couldn't open it without macros. Well maybe I could've just
opened XL2002 and found how to turn macro warnings back on, so when
opening the file I could have stopped macros from running.

To make a long story short, is there a keyboard combo or something I
could launch/enter as I start XL2002 that would prevent macros from
running on just that one opening file?

Thanks!!!

Norm

If you hold down the shift key while opening the file, it
won't run an auto open macro. If that doesn't help, you
can go to Tools;options and click Security then Macro
Security to raise the macro security level. You can
always lower it again after you've fixed the problem.

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep them in mind.
