any free antivirus 2 addNT2002

hallo
I have winXP
I got norton 2002 with the comp which expired last yr in
2002 august. But I didn't know 2 update the latest
antiviral update at that time, so all my virus
definitions r of 8/2001;; its becoming difficult 2
dnload all new antiviral wares manually
Now I am in no postion 2 get the new norton now;;

neither do I have any friend with that NT2003 Cd
; Can any1 suggest a dependable antiviral free-ware
which can be updated regularly!
I don't know whether this request is reasonable in this board/not

Go to www.grisoft.com
AVG does an admirable job, I swear by it. Others here and in other
newsgroups will tell you the same thing. In fact, I like it better than
Norton. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles (it's just antivirus, not
a complete system protection package, like firewall, backup, all that
stuff), but it does what it does, and it does it well.
Wow, I sound like a commercial. Anyways, it's free and updates are free, and
automatic if you choose. Hope that helps.

Here is one which should be at least as good as Grisoft AVG (and which
actually has a better record, if Virus Bulletin is to be believed):
