Don't use Excalibur. It's a super powerful calc with many really cool
features, tobe sure...but it's also RPN, and that can be a hassle if
you're not used to a Reverse Polish Notation calc.

Try ESBCalc http://www.esbconsult.com/esbcalc/esbcalc.htm
Just unzip the exe file and double click it. Nop install, runs from a
floppy with room to spare.

RPN is *vastly* superior -> much easier to work with once you've spent
an hour or so getting used to it. ;)

Anyway. . . there are lots of Freeware calculators - see:
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_BUSINESS-HOME.php#2.10Calculator
(keep scrolling down, there are several subcategories)

I don't recall if any of the calculators has a units converter but there
are a fair number of stand alone apps - see:

I highly recommend Convert (it's Pricelessware):

Hi,
The search you mentioned returns a million result but i am looking for
a free one.
However, the top ranked one from the search result ( which is: Dicom
4.0 from http://www.knowbotron.com) looks like a free one. Let me give
it a try to see how it goes with unit conversion, thanks.

Google web search field can be used for both calculations and
conversions.

I wrote, 2 inches to mm ,and I got the result and a link to
explanations of the google calculation and conversion system:
http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/help/features.html#calculator

Somebody said it works well for fractions of inches too, which very few
other software conversion programs can handle.

I just tried 2 3/16 inches to mm and it worked too.

What I *REALLY DID* like about Excalibur were the various disciplines
that it serves and myriad of functions that it has for each discipline.
I would LOVE to see Excalibur as a "standard-input" calculator!!!

Do you know of one like that?

I have no doubt that you're right---I just never had that hour or two
to get used to RPN when there was standard-input calc either in my hand
or on my computer.

Take good care Susan!
