Someone suggested to me a dual boot set up with Windows XP Home on two seperate partitions, for the purpose of drag-n-drop full back-ups of boot drive. I don't think I will have any trouble setting this up, I would just like to know how Microsoft will respond to Registration and Activation of the second install.

Legally - you need two copies (licenses) of XP Home in order to setup what
you are proposing.

why would you want to back up to the same hard drive if your hard drive
fails your back up is not much good.
