Hi all, can someone please help, when i start up windows my antivirus kicks
in before my network connects, so i have to update myself every time, im
using AVG antivirus, could this be the problem.

AVG Antivirus has a built-in scheduler. Use it to go get updates at a time
more convenient to you. My computers run 24/7 so I have it get updates at
0200. You could have it go out during lunchtime or other period when you're
not at the computer.

Done know what your problem is, as you don't provide details, but normal
operating procedure is for the AntiVirus and any Firewall software to come
up before connecting to any external network and before most of the other
software on the system comes up in order to better to protect the PC from
intrustion - especially where the network is involved. The PC would be very
vulnerable with no AV or FW up and it be connected to the internet - those
few split seconds would be enough time to plant all kinds of malignant
software on the PC.
