What's the best free anti-virus software out there?

Thank you.

The best one is the one that you install, update automatically, always run
the resident program, periodically run the on demand scanner, and the one
that you employ as a part of a layered protection system that includes the
following.

1. Hosts file

2. Restricted sites protection- IE Spyad

3. Antivirus

4. Firewall

5. Windows Update

6. Anti-Spyware

7. Anti-Spam

These are not listed in order of importance, all should be present. There
are free products that will do all of these tasks, and the specific one or
ones that you use is not as important as the fact that all of these
components should be present.

Good resources are: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

http://spywarewarrior.com/

http://www.grc.com/

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2006/PL2006SECURITY.php

Hope this helps.
