Forgive me if this has been address before, this is driving me nuts to say
the least. My system was running fine prior to attaching a new external usb
drive. No I screwed up and didnt install drivers. Windows did notify me
that it would run faster on high speed usb do I want to update.. I said yes.
Then after a reboot I cant get my wireless key board, mouse or anything that
is usb. I plugged in the old stand by key board and trak-ball (not wireless
or usb) and they stop working after widows loads up. I have tried
uninstalling the universal usb hubs but they just load up on restart and the
problem start all over again.

Not sure about this solution but start Windows XP in Safe Mode
with only the USB keyboard and mouse attached. Delete all of the
USB items in Device Manager and let Windows XP re-install the
USB 1.1 drivers. It might work.

Thanks for the quick reply.
But I cant get to safe mode it stops once drivers have loaded and goes no
further.
Is there possibly another approach..
