Another Email stuck in Windows Mail Outbox

I've read all the posts; I've tired to download the Hotifix kb941090; it
kleeps failing- and yes, I verified I have 32 bit; and yes, I not only
disabled my email scans, disabled the AntiVirus- I even tried uninstalling
the entire Norton Internet Security software and then re-installing the
Hotfix. Still won't install.
Nothing is working.

What are my options now ?
Must I create a new Windows ID? I hope not.
I've already done that for another problem when I first got my HP with Vista
OS last year- unbelievable resulting headaches.
I have a lot of emails in my Inbox folders and was told by my ISP
(ATT/Bellsouth) that even backing them up doesn't guarantee access to them
after creating a new ID.

In addition to what Gary suggested, you can try my Windows Mail utility to
remove the stuck message. See www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/

You really need to install Vista SP1, but you first need to completely
remove Norton.

Thanks Gary- and Steve
Last night, I called Norton.
They completely uninstalledInternet Security (scans et al).
I tried to delete the email, and to install the Hotfix: still the problem
exists.
They didn't mention the debris removal;, but I assume (!)they know what they
are doing. They came to the conclusion is is an MS problem.
ATT/Bellsouth reiterated the same thing.

Is Windows live Mail a MS supported, nonBeta test version?
I would hate to try something experimental, but also hat eto try something
not a bonafide MS product (its a love-hate relationship; I like the
ease/security of not having to adapt a non MS product amongst all the other
'in the box' software on my PC)

Of course, Norton would say that. It is the easiest way for them to get you
out of their hair. If it really is an "MS problem" why are millions of users
not experiencing that problem? Incidentally, I've heard some good
things about Norton Antivirus 2009, so maybe they've finally turned over
a new leaf.

Yes, Windows Live Mail is a released product (since November 2007),
and (unlike WM) is receiving ongoing MS support and development.

Hi Gary- and Steve- thank you both for your patience with me. I read Steve's
and your resolutions- which I must admit- scare the heck out of me- I am
really gunshy of trying to run utilities, remove antivirus programs,
etc...without some handholding from online techs.
I think I tried to download SP1 a couple of months ago, seem to remember it
would not install. I took off for a family emergency, and never thought about
it till you just mentioned it.

OK- how about a "MS for Dummies" solution:
What if I get out my installation CD for MS Office Pro, which SHOULD (?)
have Outlook on it, and install it.
AT+T/Bellsouth ISP support is free and would help talk me throught the
server settings etc.
I should be able to import my Windows Mail contacts and emails/folders?.
Then I'll just stop using Windows Mail. (Call it the Ostrich Method :) )
Would that be a feasible workaround that even a non-techie like me could do-
and would work? I usually don't bother installing Outlook since it's overkill
for my home use.

My utility, unlike antivirus products, doesn't damage your system.

You can install Outlook if you want.

steve

You did not mention which version of Outlook you have.
Versions older than Outlook 2003 are not fully compatible with Vista.
For more on this see:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm

What makes you think installing Outlook would be less of a chore than
installing Windows Live Mail (WLM)? Actually, the opposite is true.
WLM will automatically import all your WM accounts, settings, and emails.
Outlook won't do that automatically, it requires manual importing, which
may not go well since any Outlook older than '2007' was developed
long before there was a Windows Mail.

Steve
I did not mean to infer your utility would damage my system. It was more a
case of my inability to deal with unintended consequences of my applying it -
and my doing something incorrect to fix any errors I make.
....you can already see how many typos I make :)
Alas, I do not have the patience that troubleshooting requires.

RE: Outlook version
Don't have it on me now, but it must be a current version- I donwloaded the
entire rest of MS Office Pro software-except for Outlook- easily earlier this
year and had no probs with Vista.

RE: ease of installing Outlook and transfering current contacts et al
I just assumed I have a newly purchased product -therefore supported !!!
version of Outlook -(not sure how that works- I don't think you can ever call
MS; and when I did have problems downloading their SP1, I don't think any of
their online resolutions worked, but???)
I do thank you for pointing out all the shortcomings and potential problems
with my trying to change to Outlook: these are the unintended consequences I
have no idea about and fear...whichever route I take.

I hope Bellsouth/ATT will help me if I have any problems with changing the
settings.

BUT even if Windows Live Mail is a fully supported MS product - I would
still have to do it all on my own, unless you think there is someone there I
can call (not the $59 per??) to advise me through downloading the utilities,
running the debris removals, etc, and removing Norton (took almost a half
hour just to get the latter on the phone, but they did help me uninstall and
reinstall it safely)

What a tangled web I weave...

I have no vested interest in either WLM or Outlook, so it matters not
to me which email program you decide to go with. :-)
I just wanted you to be aware of some of the potential pitfalls when
switching to Outlook.
WLM was specifically developed to make the WM > WLM transition
easy, no expertise required. And it is reversible; just uninstall and
WM is back just like before.
