How do I get rid of unwanted toolbars that install by
themselves? I have tried to right click the toolbar and
turn it off but the next time I load the page it
reappears.

Usually the site where you installed the Toolbar, by popular demand (more
like threats against the web master's progeny or privates) posts an
uninstall for the toolbar.

Post which toolbars you want to get rid of, and probably someone in this
group already has the answer. If I go to a site, and it wants to install
something, I think long and hard whether I want something installed that
could potentially either cause trouble, or become irritating. Toolbars
usually don't install by themselves. You're usually asked if you want the
install. If you weren't asked, and it installed by itself, is it possible
that you're not using a firewall? If you're not, then at least download and
install the free version of Zone Alarm at:

http://www.zonelabs.com

You should also download and install the free version of Ad-Aware 6, at:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Open it, click the link to Check for Updates, update the definitions and
scan your drive to get rid of ad-ware/spyware/scumware etc.. Don't delete
anything found until you quarantine it, just in case a program that you must
use won't run without it. Then you can restore it from quarantine even
after you've deleted it.

Or, if it's been installed as a BHO, (Browser Helper Object) that's been
installed without your
knowledge: Download and run BHODEMON. The
download is in ZIP file format. Extract the files to a folder, then double
click the file BHODemon.exe. You will see all the BHOs. Select one, and
click the Details button. A window will open with the option to Disable
that BHO. At the moment, the only BHOs that I have enabled are Flash, and
Ad-Shield. If you're not quite sure which BHO might be related,
disable the one's you're unsure of, one at a time (rebooting after disabling
each one), until you find the culprit. Then re-enable the one's that didn't
cause the problem.
