In Word 2003, I've disabled the spell check in Language and Tools/Service although spell check continues working. How could I get rid of it?

The only way, really, to disable spell check completely is to not install it. (You can't
uninstall it without removing all Office applications, and even then it's not certain.
It's a shared component, so installation is very persistent).

What could help would be to go to the Microsoft Office Language Tools (somewhere under
START/Programs) and deactivate all languages. Spell check only runs for activated
languages. If there's no active language, it shouldn't run...

Thanks Cindy.
By the way, what's the reason I want to remove spell check? It consumes up to 30% of CPU resources

Office Language Tools does not allow removing all languages: at least one language must exist.
In Tools/Options/Spell Check tab, I've unchecked all checkboxes, but spell check continues working.
I've removed it from the office installation, but it continues working all the same. I have no more ideas
I guess this is the office bug

I will be grateful for support

To turn off Spell check, go to Tools, Options, Spelling and Grammar tab, uncheck it

I uncheck all these checkboxes. They do nothing. Spell check goes on.

In what way is it manifesting itself that's a problem for you?

As I mentioned before, the only way to NOT have it installed is to remove Office entirely, then reinstall
without the proofing tools.
