I HAVE A PICTURE THAT I NEED TO GET RID OF, IT FLASHES FOR A SEC JUST BEFORE THE WELCOME SCREEN ANY SUGGESTIONS

FUNNY IF YOUR NOT GOING TO HELP SHUT UP JUST BECAUSE YOU CANT FIX IT DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT ON ME

What picture, where?

Lose the caps. It's hard to read, and considered to be screaming or yelling
in a newsgroup:

Just because you are a jerk doesn't mean we have to answer you anymore.

Nobody here owes you anything! If you can't laugh at yourself, we will all
laugh at you.
I normally charge $35 per hour, two hour minimum and in your case a $50
nuisance fee.

well testy I believe you owe me more than you know while you are at home sleeping in your bed im out there ighting to make sure our country isnt overrun by terrorist. so your job can be there in the moring, you can wake up another day and see your family, while I pray everyday that can be able to see mine. so you can go to work without having to worry about getting a plane or nuclear bomb hitting your town. you see i dont sit behind a computer all day where my tools for the job are an ohm meter and an oscilliscope. I stand, fight ,and risk my life for you and the rest of the usa, with nothing more than a rifle and my mind. so if want to laugh at me then you go ahead and do so, i have more important things to do then worry about your sense of humor. if you have seen half the shit i have seen in the last two months you would see why my sense of humor is lacking. all i wanted was to help my wife, shes the one who doesnt want the picture of my dead bother who served in the marines also, to keep flashing to remind her everyday that that could be me. sorry for wasting your time. cpl. j.r.h. united states marine corps.

Hey, gyrene, at ease. You get what you pay for here, and you're the one
that started out shouting.

Can you describe the annoying image? I'm taking a wag here that it might be
the PC maker's logo (from the BIOS startup) that is still in a frame of the
video buffer - it flashes when the video is changing from the bootup to the
running mode.

If so, you might be able to disable the manufacturer's splash screen in the
BIOS setup. If it can't be disabled, or that's not the source, then perhaps
the first advice to not look is the best course of action.

I have had the same issue before. It seems once you set a picture as your
wallpaper, it remains in the memory somehow. The way to remove it is to set
your wallpaper to soemething different AGAIN. reboot. Then, reset your
wallpaper, again. This way, the picture in memory will be different and
THAT will be the one that flashes momentarily before boot up.

I hope this helps. oh, and by the way, if no one else tells you, I
appreciate you. Thank you, for your sacrifices, and tell your wife, my
family and I thank her too.

I also charge $35 an houre, 2 hour minimun, but for you..... gratis!

bobbie i appreciate the help i never shouted or anything its just that my wife always types in all caps for some reason ( women ) about the solution: i set a new wallpaper restarted, then i set a new one ? or the one thats stuck in memory? because my wallpaper is different but the picture of louis still flashes.

after talking to some guys on base i finally found a solution that worked. i went to the start menu went to run typed in regedit, selected user, control panel, desktop, went to wallpaper and deleted it.
problem solved. thanks bobbie for the help ill make sure to tell my wife. to everyone else who i claimed to be" yelling or shouting at" next time know the facts before you blame or smart off.

first of all i didnt start yelling i just answered the reply testy chose to write. if he or you or antone else took it the wrong my them thats a problem you need to worry about yourself. if thats the way you treat custormers it a wonder how you have a job at all. i guess thats why you have to answer questions online afraid of face to face confrontations.

JRH,
First of all, you were yelling:
"I HAVE A PICTURE THAT I NEED TO GET RID ..." - posts in all caps are the
online equivalent of shouting. It may be what you're used to seeing on
military teletype traffic (I know, I wrote and read thousands of messages in
my time) - but the modern era has both upper and lower case. It actually
makes your text more readable.

Your original post wasn't very clear as to the problem - better description
of the "picture" might have gotten a usable solution sooner. Be detailed in
your queries.

No one is a customer here - no one is paid or supported to provide help.
It's a community thing. Treat your neighbors the way you want to be
treated. If someone replies in a way that knots your knickers, the best
tactic is to ignore them.

Not using all caps is great, but you may start a sentence with a
capital letter. :)
