I've got my machine set up to use the "no sounds" scheme. However, whenever
IE opens a new page an annoying "blip" noise is heard. How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance,
TK

You have speakers and a multimedia computer and you don't want sound?

Turn off or disconnect your speakers.

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties > Sounds

Scroll down to "Windows Explorer" and see if there's a
speaker before "Start navigation". If you have "No sounds"
set there shouldn't be but it doesn't hurt to look...

Failing this, you may have a spyware artifact on your
machine.

Eh. Might try posting this to the newsgroup :)

Definitely no sound next to anything. This is odd.

Could be right . . . my do a bit of investigation in that direction. I'll
let you know if I find anything.

PS For the record, there's times when you don't want the sound scheme
functioning (ever tried to record something through the line input with
sound schemes activated?)

PPS Solved it: it's not adware, but my anti-adware program, deleting a
cookie (always the obvious ones you get stuck on).
