Annimated gifs don't annimate for recipient?

I am sending emails via Outlook 2000 with Word as email editor. I am set on
HTML in the Mail Format Options area under Tools. I use IE 6.0. When I
insert animated gifs they do not animate neither in my original composition
nor when the recipient opens the mail. Afterwards, when I look at the
message in the Sent Items folder, it does animate. The recipient is using
the latest version of Netscape. Though the recipient does not see the
animation in the received message, if she replies to same, the graphic does
animate in her reply composition.

Can anyone advise?

I know that tools like ZoneAlarm disable animated GIF files... as do some
e-mail spam and virus scanners (like SpamPal for instance).
