The Evolution of the Progress Bar!

[from the Web site]
"Instead of presenting to them that boring "blue bar" (or any other
colored one) you would present to them a PICTURE picked up randomly
from THOUSANDS ones that exist in your Resource DLL."

I bet they'll love the stream of progress bars while those thousands
of images are installed along with the application they actually want
to use!

Hi Paul,

Thank you for visiting our web site and for bringing this issue to
discussion!

In Corporate environments the End-Users are not impacted in the installation
phase of software applications. This is done by IT personnel that manages
the App Server.

Corporate End-Users will be directly surprised when their apps start to
present "sunshines", "rainbows", "sea shores", in a random way the next time
turn on their workstations!

If your app is distributed by CD/DVDs the installation of your image
Resource DLL will take less than 5 seconds!

For Apps distributed over the Web, two points:

#1. For Users with Broadband connections they will be able to download the
image Resource DLL in 3-5 minutes;
#2. You can distribute a image Resource DLL with just 10 images (with almost
none impact in the download time) and give an option for the User to
download/install later the full version of your image Resource DLL in a
as-time permits basis.

In all cases, from the User experience point of view, the benefits of
interacting with Picture ProgressBar all day long outweight the small, in
some cases none, time necessary to install them!

Make the following experience:

#1. Download our Picture ProgressBar Demonstration program from our web site

http://www.pictureprogressbar.com

#2. Show it to some End-Users!

#3. Ask to THEM... what do they prefer: the Picture ProgressBar or the
"boring blue ProgressBar"?

Let They answer this question to you :)

Saulo -- very clever of you -- but I would not want to wait 3-5
minutes for a Resource DLL to download even if I do have
broadband connectivity.

Its kind of dumb that your 'demo' is a static image instead of
showing the actual example of the control as it loads.

Have you considered using the control to draw the imagery
using vectors? Have you considered using XAML?

Your idea is going to be successful but I think you *must*
refine the performance of the control.

If you do not get this right by the end of the year there is going
to be at least 10 more of the same type of control and at least
9 of them will probably get it right.

So you're the first I've seen to release a Picture Progress Bar
control. I hope you get to stay that way. Good luck now...

Hi Clinton,

I appreciate your kind words and valuable advice!

Right now the Picture ProgressBar IMAGE COLLECTIONS - Demonstration program
is primarily targeting to be a "proof of concept" of how Picture
ProgressBars can enhance the GUI of a software application.

As you can see in our web site

http://www.pictureprogressbar.com

we are currently offering IMAGE COLLECTIONS with THOUSANDS of high-quality,
attention capturing, "bar shaped", jpeg images. In this regard, our demo is
intended to show to the Software Developers the quality and assortment of
our Picture ProgressBar Image Collections.
