Hello,

Out of the blue, animations on web pages will move for about 2 seconds when
a page has loaded but stop completely after that time. This has just started
happening today and I have tried restarting and also downloading an update
for Direct X...

Any ideas of what I may be able to do to rectify this?

Thank you.

This might help, especially if you are using ZoneAlarm
Pro as your firewall. When I expect to request animation
of AccuWeather's radar images, I have to first turn
Cookie Control and Ad Blocking under the Privacy Tab to
the Off position. Otherwise, I do not get animation.
The firewall protection otherwise is not affected, but
when I exit the AccuWeather web sites, I turn the subject
controls to Medium and High respectively.

THanks for your reply, I checked that but nothing changed. It is every
single animation, and those that I know for a fact worked even yesterday. And
the strange part is that they workd for a second or two and then stop all at
the same time.

Any other thoughts??

Thanks!

Hi Hope,
No, sorry but my only other thought is that maybe you or
automatic windows update installed something within the
last day or so that is interfering with animation. I
have no idea other than that. Hope you find an answer.

P.S. An idea came to mind; go to System Restore and see
what if anything might have been installed with a new
restore point being created. If there's something there,
that will give you a clue as to what is possibly causing
the problem. Also, select a recent restore point when
animation was working. See if animation works using that
earlier date.

Run Disk Cleanup. The browser cache (temp internet files) might be
full.

Well, the usual start is to check Event Viewer logs for errors connected
with web browsing. Control panel, Administrative Tools, Even Viewer.
Check for application errors or warnings. They might offer a clue.

This can happen also if your display adapter or CPU is getting hot and
the thermal protection kicks in, slowing the system to a crawl. Check
that the fans are running and there are no case obstructions. Your
computer might have a sensor monitor if it is a desktop, and that will
show temps, fan speeds, CPU speed, etc. If it is a notebook, often what
you see is about all you can get for temp indications, until the machine
arbitrarily quits without warning. Google for HMONITOR which is a small
app that will show temps, etc, in the system tray. It is a 30 day free
trial, as I recall. It should work for both desktop and *some*
notebooks.
