Is it possible to animate the columns of a table such that columns appear
one at a time?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for.
Currently PowerPoint tables can only be animated as a single object. In
order to animate indivual cells/rows/columns of a table you would have to
create them using the drawing tools instead of using the table tool.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide more granular control over the animation of table contents, don't
forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

You can copy columns or rows or any rectangular shape of any tabl
then place the new table directly over the spot it belongs in the old table
This can take some careful formatting of the new or original table
When you have everything placed in the new tables, delete the
content of the original table (make a copy of the slide 1st as a precaution
Then animate the columns or rows (the new tables), e.g. with appear
Somewhat simpler, but less precise, is to put shapes over the columns or row
to mask them, and then have the masks dissappear,

I generally build my tables using text boxes and then
align/distribute. I don't think I've EVER used the table
creator. I find it way too restricting and difficult to
manipulate when there is a lot of data.

If you build the table w/ text boxes you can very easily
have the columns appear whenever you wish to.

Alternatively...can you Ungroup the table you have so it
breaks up into parts which you can then animate?
