Animated .gif's as signaturea

I have read quite alot of posts of how to accomplish an animated gif
signature.
Everything I have tried with Outlook 2000 will not work. I do have
HTML message format set, however, I cannot insert the gif and animate
it. I have tried saving a word document as HTML with the gif inserted
and using it as stationery, no workee there either.
Can someone give some definitive answers about this in Outlook 2000?
Is it possible at all?

I can get the picture to display but not animate.
Also, the directions on the link do not jive with the email options in
the Office 2000 version I have. All the screens look different with
different menu/buttons than the examples on your website. When I do
browse for the file, my choices do not include .gif files.

GIF animation is built into the image file. Therefore, if the animation does
not run even though the image is displayed, the viewer application is
probably unable - or more likely, unwilling - to show the animation.

As a side note, I'm unable to comprehend why someone in their right mind
would want to use an image file in a signature. What next, a video file as
an email address?

All the gif is a black quill pen writing out my name in nice cursive script.
Looks nice is all, more for my personal email than business.
My problem is getting it to do more than just show my name and quill in its inkwell.
 
The part about putting in a picture is the same for all versions.

When you are composing the animation doesn't run. If you send it to a
Hotmail account to test with you'll see the animation.
