Hi all

As a new user to PowerPoint, an you please tell me if you are able to add
custom animation to a column chart.

I would like each column t appear individually or as a group, rather than
the whole chart. Are you able to d this??

Thank you
Louise

In PowerPoint 2002/XP and above,
Add the effect you want.
Then right click on the effect, select Effect Options.
Click on the Chart Animation.
Uncheck Animate grid and legend (if you do not want to animate it)
Click on the "Group chart:" dropdown, select By element in category or series.
OK your way out.

In PowerPoint 2000 and below, you can change to By element in category or
series, in Introduce chart elements section (Which is under the Chart Effects
tab).

See if it helps.

I have PowerPoint XP so this has worked fantastically, thank you very much.

Just to be awkward, are you 'allowed' to have each column appearing in
different ways? Or does the customisation have to apply to all columns? For
instance, could you have one set to 'fly in', another set to 'diamond' etc?

Thanks again.
Louise

You can do so by clicking on the drop down button, which will display the
animations added on the objects in the chart.
It depends on the animations though. Blind, appear, fade, wipe, radom
effects, wheel works. Some others that I have tried does not work. Hope it
helps.
