I have looked at that site and none of the tricks worked. I am using Office
PPT SP1, and the file looks fine in Office XP PPT. PPT 2003 does not to want
to import .emf or .wmf images generated by PPT XP. All other picture formats
work.

The version Office XP PPT your talking about. what version is it? Tools | Help
about will give you the information. You can also visit here.

The version that works is PPT 2002 SP-2.

Also, I looked at the URL you suggested. I did not use Adobe Illustrator to
generate the file. The .emf was generated using PPT 2002.

I don't know if this will make a difference, but I am using a HP nc8000
laptop computer with 1GB of RAM and XP Professional OS.

Are both versions of PPT on the same computer?

How are you bringing the EMF into PPT2003? Insert, Picture, From File? If not,
try it -- it's the recommended way of doing this.

Have you checked Help, Check for Updates and applied the recommended updates to
PPT2003?

yes to all those questions.

AFAIK, the only way that PowerPoint can generate a .emf/.wmf file is by using
the save as feature. If your want to transfer the presentation from one machine
to another why not just save it as a native PowerPoint presentation rather than
an image file?

yes to all those questions.

If both versions are on the same computer, that means that they're both sharing the
Office 2003 graphics import/export filters. That can lead to incompatibilities.

On the other hand, it might be something odd about the specific slide. I just tried
this on a computer with 2000, XP and 2003 installed and had no trouble bringing the
2002 EMF into 2003.

Can you post the original PPT slide someplace and give us the URL so we can have a
try with it?
