i have xp pro and recently had problems and reformatted c:. all my docs are
on d: and i had encrypted one of my folders. looking around at some forums i
now know my previous identity is lost and i cant open my encrypted folder.
but i remembered i copied c: to a folder on d: before reformatting. is there
a way to use the identity info to un-encrypt the folder?
any info would be greatly appreciated!!

If you restored C, and ran a Upgrade setup of XP from a CD boot, it might
offer a Repair option, (second repair offer, after the EULA agreement)

No. You did not back up the encryption key and Windows generates a new key
upon each reinstallation. So, yes, your data is gone.
