Am I still infected?

Yesterday I got some great help about by Winreg32.exe
problem - thanks. AVG never found this program to be a
problem. But now I am a bit paranoid. I have heard that
XP is very suseptable to attack and I just installed it
last week. I was infected with various viruses
immediatly, which also leads to my paranoia. Is there
anything else I need to be aware of? Keep in mind I have
the computer skills of a 2 year-old.

I am using Zone Alarm firewall. I have something running
in SVCHOST called "generic host process for win32
services". Is this normal?

I am also using Spybot S&D and until yesterday before I
ran dsostop2.exe I was getting 5 dso exploit but after
running the program I have 4 coming up at all times and
they are continually the same. How can I get rid of these?

Keep your firewall enabled - which you are.
Make sure your Virus definitions from AVG are up to date - In other words
update AVG regularly. Mine is set to update every day at 12.45am
Make sure Windows Automatic Update is enabled so that your pc is updated as
and when a new update is available from microsoft.
Keep checking with spybot and also Ad-Aware.
Don't open any email attachements unless you know who they are from and you
have virus checked them first.

As for SVCHOST that is perfectly normal, no need to worry.
Other than that you are doing everything you should be.

I think a problem might be that avg, in the free version, said it only updates
once a month if I recall. I use Norton not avg - my father uses avg on a win
98 computer.

I am just curious (original poster) - how did you end up with that file on
your computer? Educate the masses & fill us in. You might prevent others
from contracting it...

AVG anti virus (free version) can be updated daily if necessary. Just go to
the Control center and click on the update manager tab. Adjust the time to
when you want it to update. Underneath the time option you will see an
option marked 'update if database is older than' Adjust this so that it says
1 (one) day. Click apply button and then avg will update everyday at the
specified time.
