am I going mad? ( my administrator password changes by itself?)

When I log on I find that my user account/administrator password has changed to a previous password or is no longer password protected. We have had to do system restore a few times recently possibly due to installing norton internet security 2004 ( which doesn't seem to like instant messnger). Is it at all possible this is happening accidentally or must I suspect my teenage son is hacking into the system ( I have seen him do this before). He was very indignant when I suggested he had been responsible for this.

This sounds like the user profile may have been corrupted. XP remembers
old passwords, and that could explain its going back to the old password.
I would suggest replacing the administrator account.

Roger, what do you mean by replacing the administrator account? Please excuse if this is a stupid question.

Did not notice reply until now. Sorry for delay. Recommendation
is to create a new administrator account, and either delete or
disable the old account. Are you using XP pro or home edition?
