Good morning

I have a broadband connection and as soon as I turn my computer on I have
immediate access. I am not particularly happy with this as I am restricted
to the amount of time I am allowed to surf etc. There are many times when
all I want to do is type or Excel. Can I just connect and disconnect at will
please?
Thank you all, you never fail to sort me out.
Regards. S

The easiest way is to just unplug the LAN or USB cable going to the modem or router.

Control Panel, Network Connections, right click on the connection,
Properties, check 'Show icon in notification area when connected.'
This will put double monitors on the Taskbar when you are connected.
You can right click on the icon and Disable.

Control Panel, Network Connections, right click on the connection, Create
shortcut, put on the desktop. (You can drag the shortcut to the Quick Launch
bar.) Right click on the shortcut to Enable or Disable the connection.

Hello ,,,,,, Remove the browser from the "Startup Menu" , create a shortcut
to the the desktop or to the "Tool Bar" . To Remove from "Starup Menu"
Start/run/ type in msconfig /OK/click the tab Startup/uncheck the box per
browser or ISP start Page/ restart PC .

Thank you all for your help. I will try each one and use the most easy and
convenient option.
This is for KD please. Just one thing, if I take the option out of startup,
when I need to reconnect to the internet again periodically is it as simple
as enable / disable?
Regards and thanks again.

Taking the browser out of Startup will not disable your DSL connection.
Every program that has autoupdate can use the connection.
Your email program can.
Viruses and trojans can.

Hello ,,, Ron Sommer 1/19 reply would be the correct answer . If you cannot
find the option to show the wireless icon in the "Tool Bar" let us know . If
you have a desktop PC , Ron Sommers' reply would be most conveinient . If you
have a labtop , there may be a button just above the keyboard that is great
for diabling and enabling the connection .
