I am tracking registrations for a family retreat. There is one registration
per family, and each registration is numbered. I now need to alphabetize my
list, keeping families together. I don't know how to keep the family
together when members have different last names. Please help. I am using MS
Office 2000.

You have mutually exclusive objectives. Either sort on the registration
number so families stay together regardless of their last name or sort
alphabetically and don't keep them together.

The only other alternative I can think of would be to designate a "head of
family" (one per registration) and sort on their last name then
registration number.

I have a retreat head field, but I'm still not sure how to alphabetize off
the retreat head's last name, and keep the family grouped together.

sheesh, I need to watch threads forwards and back. I posted a possible
solution in a later thread.
