I use the computer in a family environment and whenever my
teenage daughter makes changes to any part of windows,
those changes also affect my account. Is there any way to
allow her to customize her own desktop without it also
changing mine?
Thanks

If I put a new item on my desktop, it also shows up on her
desktop and vice versa. If she changes the view settings
in internet explorer, it also changes my settings.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Some settings like Screen Resolution are Globla. They affect everyone.

But, For the Icons on the user desktops. you can Right-Click on the
Start button. Select Explore ALL USERS. You will see a list of
folders.../Documents and Settings/ALL USERS/..../Documents and
Settings/Default Users/..../Documents and Settings/<Account>/. Where
<Account> is the name for each user you have an account for. one for you.
One for your daughter.

Simply move the icons around. Anything you both use go into the /ALL
USERS/ folder. Things that only you use go under your folder. etc.

Programmers write "Help Files" for a reason. use them.

The only reason that items would be duplicated between her Desktop and yours
are:

1) The item is in Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
2) A tweaking utility, such as TweakUI has been used to re-direct one or the
other user's Desktop folder.

For IE, I've never observed the behavior you describe (what description
there was), as almost all settings are specific to each user.
