Through errors on my part while upgrading from W98 to XP
Home, I have wiped out the program groups folders that
contain all the startup shortcuts for software previously
installed on the hard drive. I could not find the folders
in the recycle bin.
Any suggestions for how to recover from this?
Joe

As my question generated no responses I was wondering if
I've posted in the wrong newsgroup or if I created some
sort of newsgroup faux pas? If so please let me know.
If not, would somebody out there point me in the right
direction on this issue?
I appreciate your effort on my behalf.
Thank you

Hi, Joe ... no, you're in the right newsgroup. If you didn't use XP's
'File and Settings Transfer Wizard' before the upgrade, you'll have to
re-create the shortcuts to the old programs. The programs should still
be there in an upgrade (look in c:\Program Files for the various
programs you want and create a shortcut to the programs .exe file) ...
then drag the shortcut to C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Start
Menu\Programs.

It's not a big deal to create the shortcuts, just time-consuming.
