I built a pent 4 - 2.4 puter for my wife. The puter has Win XP home, 512 MB
memory, nvidia 440 mx , SB live 5.1. Everything works well except that she
cannot get the favorites to work in the all programs menu. The favorites do
work when you open IE6 and then go a link. The favs worked when the puter
was first built but after a while they started working on and off. Now they
dont work at all from the all programs menu. She does not want to reinstall
XP because she is afraid she will lose a lot of stuff she downloaded. Can
anyone tell me the process that XP uses to link to the favorites. Maybe i
can modify the files or replace a DLL or something that will fix this.

Thank you,
JamesS

Try the following:

Right-click on the Taskbar and select:
Properties > Start Menu > Customize, uncheck "Display Favorites",
click OK and reboot your computer. Now go back and recheck
"Display Favorites" and click OK.
