Hi,

here is the problem:
- All my folders show as "Read Only" in Windows Explorer.
Hence I can't do anything anymore with it.
- The explorer lets me remove the read only check box on
the File->properties tag. But when I access once again
the folder it is still read only.
- I am able to create or delete file with another
application such as Word or with the command shell. The
problem seems to be located only in the explorer.
- I have scan the whole system for anti viruses with two
different anti virus progams.

thanks in advance for your help,

Gregg

this is normal

as they have always shown that way, the cause of your
issues is something else

normal. As the prompt indicated, this is just a switch
to set/unset the attribute on contained files

It is likely the NTFS permissions on the folder/files
Look at these with the Security tab in the properties of the
NTFS object, doing so in a Safe Mode boot if you must (Home,
or Pro in Simple sharing mode)

I've recently moved to Windows XP and have been wondering
also why I can not change the attributes on files in
windows explorer. I would appreciate a post on this forum.

Files or Folders ?
If Folders, read info in earlier reply to this thread.
If Files, then you have some abnormal situation.
