Advantages and disadvantages in comparison to what?

The biggest advantage is it's ubiquitousness, it's everywhere. As such,
there are thousands of people to call upon for help, and you have the NGs.
Others, Quattro Pro can handle mor data, but I would argue that it is
probably better to use a database for that scale of data.

Other than that, give us an idea of why you ask, and we can answer in that
light.
