Alert . Malicious script detected

Hi
Have noticed the following notation pops up at times, (not always) when
clicking on to certain newsgroup links.
"Alert.. Malicious script detected". Being afraid go any further, I
disregard this link.
Am I doing the right thing or is this a safety feature in my security setup.
