Hi,
Each morning when I start the computer an irritating alarm sound starts,
regardless of whether the speakers are on or not. This sound may stop after
a few minutes but has also continued for hours. I have no idea what is
causing it or how to stop it - would really appreciate any help.

Hi,

That is a motherboard alarm, and it indicates a serious problem. Usually a
long steady alarm indicates a failure of the cpu fan and overheating
condition. Check your motherboard manual for details.
