Hi

Have been trying to find a font like " Akzidenz Grotesk Ext". Have googled
for it but without success.
Any one know where a freeware version, or similar, is available?

Thanks

Cas

If you have a sample of the font you might be able to find similar fonts
here:

WhatTheFont
http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
Upload a scanned image of an unknown font to find the closest matches in
the database.

Search alt.comp.freeware (or read it online):

Pricelessware & ACF: http://www.pricelesswarehome.org
Pricelessware: http://www.pricelessware.org (not maintained)

Thanks Susan,

Will give it a try as soon as I can get a sample to upload.
Looks promising.
Many thanks for your response.

A visit to alt.binaries.fonts might prove helpful. Folks have been known to
upload fonts that have been requested. I have no idea what the copyright
position is with Akzidenz Grotesk Extended, but of course that's up to
you...

Berthold's Akzidenz Grotesk by Guenter Gerhard Lange is like Helvetica
and Arial a Gothic or ``Grotesk'' sans serif, with industrial
characteristics.

Neue Helvetica Extended (if you have Mac OS X) or Arial should be close
enough, though I'm not aware of a freely available extended version of
Arial (but lots of people used the algorithmically condensed Helvetica
Condensed, so you should be able to just extend it using whatever
program is setting the type).
