Aggregating the time spent on docs?

I am looking for a way to aggregate the time spent working
on a set of documents.

Basically, I am looking for a way to generate the total
time spent working on a set of office (word, excel, etc.)
documents).

Thanks.
 
You will probably need a third-party app to do this. Years ago there was one
called Timeslips that was supposed to do this, though I think it may still
have required manual logging.
