I had MSOffice 2003, on Windows XP computer. MSWord was updated to version 9
(not sure how), and now I can't open any documents, althought I do can make
new ones, and open the new ones with no problem.
Is there anyway to repair this issue so that I can recover those documents?
A lot of effort has gone to many of these documents, and there would be no
other way to get some of them back from anywhere else.
Things I've tried so far that has made no difference whatsoever...
-Detect and repair (from help menu)
-Open the file using "open and repair option"

Well, first of all, version 9 would not be an upgrade, since Word 2003 is
version 11. Perhaps you have Word 2007?

How did you manage that? The version of Word that is part of Office 2003
is Word 11, so if you now have Word 9 you "downgraded" rather than
upgraded. This may be why you cannot open the documents.

Hi,

There is a tool called Advanced Word Repair. I have used it to repair
many corrupt Word documents on my damaged disks successfully. Its
homepage is http://www.datanumen.com/awr/
