I have a problem after downloading, the problem is: once I download any file
from the internet it will be downloaded completely fine, after the
completing of the download the file disappears suddenly!! Even I tried to
change the location of the downloaded files but no luck...

I tried to disable the firewall, AV and no change the problem still exists,

OS is XPSP2, IE6sp2..

Looking to resolve this problem with you kind help.. and question I am glad
to answer it..

Cheers

Did you look in Temporary Internet Files?

ibrahim,

Happened a couple times to me also. The file (seems like it's only
Microsoft's Download site, for me at least) downloads to the Temporary
Internet Files folder.

* Copy & Paste C:\Documents and Settings\Your account name\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 (replace 'your account name')
into the Window Explorer's address bar, click 'Go'.
* Click into the top temp folder, sort by size & scroll to the bottom of
page.
* Cut & Paste your file to a safe place.

thnaks guys, the solution is to unstall the windows defender, and it worked
directly.. thanks very much for your support

but i notice whenever i run any anti spyearw the problem will come again, any
idea how to fix it?

ibrahim,

Two days ago I couldn't download Windows Defender to any folder, instead it
was downloaded directly to Temporary Internet Files. However, I can't seem
to reproduce the problem today. I downloaded a few others from Microsoft's
Download Center, also without reproducing the problem. Odd. Are you still
having the same problem today or is it miraculously fixed?

Drew,

my problem is not where to dowanload, the problem of dowanloading is fixed
now by uninstalling windows defender, when i run spayware doctore the
downloaded files are gone and the same problem comes into the picture again..
when i uninstall the anti-spyware the problem is resolved.. so from here i
can notice that anti-spyware programes are causing the problem.. hope to find
a fix to it.

Apparently Spyware Doctor is quite problematic of late. Just do a Google
Groups Advanced Search for "Spyware Doctor problems" and you'll see.
Frankly, with so many other good and stable antispyware programs out there,
I would uninstall Spyware Doctor and use something else. Or contact their
tech support.

Refer to this site before choosing a new antispyware program:

Then perhaps your computer is not clean and/or maintained. Go through the
malware removal procedures at the link below. Do not skip the preparatory
work.

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Do not come back with "but I already used Windows Defender and [insert name
here]". Do the work so that we *know* you are working with a clean base
system. After that, if you are still having problems we can narrow down the
troubleshooting further.

ibrahim,

Suppose you just shutdown the applications instead of uninstalling (you
would also need to disable their services temporarily)? Maybe it's a
conflict between Spyware Doctor & Windows Defender, possibly their real-time
Web protection? If Spyware Doctor is shutdown, do you download alright, and
visa versa? Try turning off the Web protection in one of the apps.
