After SP2, does Recovery still work?

This is probably a very basic question, but can someone clarify if
possible future 'recoveries' of the OS are affected now that I've
installed SP2? Can I still use both the original CD that came with my
MESH PC, or the 'Recovery Console' I have configured on my bootup
screen? Won't they restore OLD versions of key files?

Hi

What kind of XP CD did you have from Mesh? You can still use it, but XP
will be taken back to that version. If you want to install the Recovery
Console on SP2, you will need a slipstreamed SP2 CD. If you try to install
the RC from a previous version of XP, you will get an error message and it
won't be installed.

Thanks, very helpful. The CD is a 'full recovery' type, but definitely
proprietary, i.e. not the full standard MS.

I have Recovery Console as a boot up option, in addition to 'XP Home
Edition', which I installed a year or so ago.

Because of increasing problems with SP2, I've reverted back to SP1, at
least for time being. If/when I try again, how could I get 'a
slipstreamed SP2 CD' please? I would definitely want to continue with
'Recovery Console' as a boot up option, but of course it would have to
be SP2-based.

Hi Terry,

I used Autostreamer (which can be found at
http://www.autopatcher.com/autostreamer.html ), and it worked a treat.
