If you have a cursor on screen, two easiest solutions... For icons:
Right click Desktop; Select "Arrange Icons by...">"Show Desktop Icons". For
Taskbar: Place cursor at bottom os screen. If it becomes a two-headed
arrow, hold left mouse button down and drag mouse away from you (arrow moves
up) until Taskbar snaps back into place.

Re-post if either or both fail to fix.

Didn't work I'm afraid, I have the cursor and the desktopbackground. I can't
access anything on that account?, can you help?
Thx

Hi Iv'e had the same problem and the only work round I can find is this. When
the wall paper only is on screen and the cursor which moves but doesn't
respond to any clicks. Hit Control/Alt/Delete, which opens up dialogue box.
Select log off and the system then gives you the option after a couple of
moments to log on as you and it works as normal. Hope theres a better fix
soon!

Not having the problem, I grabbed for straws, which is why I said to re-post
if it didn't work; it didn't :( What did Paul's suggestion do ? Another
straw: What does pressing the Winkey do ? (That's the key with the Windows
logo flag on it between ctrl and alt keys.) It is supposed to pop up the
Start menu in place of a mouse click on Start button; Keep trying... I hope
an MVP sees and answers this.
